Announcement About the Final Day Soldiers Book

by Brandon

Hi folks. It’s me. Yes, it’s been a long time. I apologize. As many of you know, I’ve been battling cancer for the last three years, and throughout this fight, I’ve intentionally avoided finishing the final Day Soldiers book.

Because I don’t want it to suffer because of my situation. This is the last book in the series, and I want it to be worth your time. There’s just so much involved with this process… Original draft. Rewrite. Edit for story. Edit for grammar and spelling. Cover design. Cover creation.

It goes on and on. This process is long and time-consuming, and to be honest, if I forced myself to finish it while I’m sick and on meds, the story would suffer and you wouldn’t get the book you deserve.

That said, I do have some very exciting news…

I’m making sure you do get the final book, but I’m not writing it. I’ve found an author that I am absolutely certain will do the Day Soldiers saga justice…

His name is Jake Phillips and I’ve known him for almost 30 years. He’s currently unpublished, but that doesn’t matter. There are plenty of published writers I could have found to finish this book, but I didn’t want them. I wanted to give it to Jake.

Because, first and foremost, Jake may be unpublished, but he’s still one of the finest writers I know. He’s talented, skilled, and, I think, the perfect person to finish this book. In many ways, Jake is a better writer than me. I’m not too proud to admit that.

But that’s not really why I asked him. I mean, of course, that’s a requirement, but it wasn’t my primary motivation.

I chose Jake because he knows Days Soldiers as well as anybody on this planet (with a few notable exceptions, John, so calm down).

Jake was there when I wrote the first word on this series. Originally it was intended to be a graphic novel, called “Wraiths.” Jake was there for that, and he read that first draft as well, so he’s literally been here from the very beginning. He knows the backstories, both of the universe and of the writing process that brought it to life.

I have complete faith that Jake is going to do this series justice (if not elevate it to a new level).

And please understand, this is a collaboration between the two of us. I’ve been working with Jake on all the details involving the last book, and he’s currently re-reading the entire series to get prepared.

We’ve discussed plot, character development, themes, settings, the works. I’ve let him know exactly where the story is headed, with all the hows and whys.

You can trust me when I say he’s ready to do this. I fully expect Jake to let his own voice shine through in this book, while also retaining my voice.

In short, I think you guys will love the final book.

That said, it’s still going to be quite a while before the book is ready to go. I want Jake to take his time with this and do it right, and he agrees. It’s been so long already, so there’s no need to start rushing things now.

I just wanted to give you an early heads up and to let you know that, yes, it’s been a very long time, but the final Day Soldiers book is indeed coming.

Thank you all for the support you’ve given me over the years. You guys mean more to me than you’ll ever know.
